CHARITY EX-PAT SOCIALS

The idea for this site has been brought about by several people all with the same wish.  We have lived here for a varying number of years and see that there is a need for greater education and support for the welfare of those who cannot afford it.

It is not just about money and donating a few bucks here and there, a lot of these kids need our help.  It is the intention for most of us to stay here for the rest of our lives and we need to help the next generation of Panamanians grow up with respect, dignity and a purpose in life.

One of the major reasons for moving to Panama is the friendliness and warmth of its' people, not only in the city but all over the country.  We have all experienced this and welcome it as a change from the rat race we are used to where no-one gives you the time of day.

We have now created a chance for us to help pay back some of the generosity that we have received.  All gifts will be gratefully accepted, if you do not wish to bring money as a donation, please bring anything shown on NEEDS  by clicking the button at the left hand side of this page.  We have confirmed with the orphanages that these are the items they require most to help the children enjoy the chance of a better life.

Each month one of the local expat businesses will be invited to host a social event.  They will pay the restaurant for the food in exchange for advertising themselves to you.  This will not be in the form of speeches or pressure sales.  It will simply be along the lines of tablemats and handouts etc. that you will have the choice to take or pay no attention to.  It will not be a sales evening where you will listen to someone blab all night about their business.

We will be donating the money and gifts received, to the orphanages within one week of the social evening, if the sisters are unable to attend personally.  If you are interested in becoming involved and helping the staff at the orphanage please send an email to info@charityexpatsocials.com

A thought for day:  Some understand better than others!

Some people understand life better, and they call other less fortunate people
"retarded"... At the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all
physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the
100-yard dash. At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash,
but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All, that is,
except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple
of times, and began to cry.

The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back.
Then they all turned around and went back......every one of them. One
girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said, "This will
make it better." Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the
finish line.

Everyone in the stadium stood, the cheering went on for several
minutes. People who were there are still telling the
story...Why? Because deep down we know this one thing:

What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What
matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing
down and changing our course.

All of the funds collected at each of the Charity Ex-pat social evenings will go to the orphanages.  There will be nothing deducted for administration costs, travel expenses or upkeep of the web site.

All Ex-pat businesses who wish to advertise on the web site should agree to donate to the orphanages and occassionally help to fund one of the social evenings.  The advertising will be free if you agree to make whatever donations are possible for you.

This web site is run by several people donating their free time.  There isn't any one person looking for glory or a name for themselves, it is simply to help the children.  If you would like to be a sponsor please email us with a description of your business and it will be added.
